The Project
The Barton Springs Pool Bathhouse was built in 1947 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. During the building's rehabilitation, Barron Restorations restored its steel windows. All of them.
We worked under general contractor SpawGlass, with Limbacher & Godfrey Architects leading the rehabilitation. Our scope covered every steel window in the building, plus the original hardware.

The Work
Steel windows on a public pool building take decades of moisture and constant use. Each window came down to bare metal so we could see what was left. Where rust had eaten through, we fabricated new steel sections to match the originals.
The original hardware stayed. We reconditioned every latch and operator rather than swapping in modern parts, because the hardware is part of what makes a 1947 building read as a 1947 building. The windows were then finished in the Tnemec industrial coating system called for in the project specification.
The bathhouse is a public building. Next time you swim at Barton Springs, walk past the windows on your way in. That's the work.
